From what I hear from my vegan, raw food and superfood friends is that Agave actually spikes glucose levels as much, or more than other sweeteners and could be likened to the horrible high-fructose corn syrup.

I believe Dr. Mercola did an actual study to see if blood sugar spiked after taking Agave, and it spiked tremendously.

The whole point of staying away from sweeteners, both artifical and natural, is to keep our blood sugar from spiking, so using Agave as a substitute in that case becomes useless.

Of course, everyone has their opinion and mainstream diet and health gurus swear by Agave still.

I personally stick to stevia and all natural zero cal sweeteners like Wholesome Zero.

really great post! I have one question...As a long-time "sugar sensitive" I have opted for natural sweeteners and have used Agave for years. Lately, I've been reading recommendation to avoid it, but nothing about why. Can you give a bit more info? Is it all agave or are there some types that are ok?

Very inspiring, I'll have to have a look for some of these things in the UK.
Made me more aware of the loss of goodness I may be experiencing from my juicing style by looking at the juicers you recommended, didn't realise that there could be a heat build up from friction while juicing.....very interesting.
Love the new blog layout. Keep 'em coming.
