Mobile Lifestyle 101: How I Work & Travel Anywhere

Jul 06

After more than 10 solid months on the road I’ve recited the following diatribe more often than Chicken Little thought the sky was falling. I’m not at all complaining here – I get a real kick out of the look on a person’s face as they realize that 1) I’m not crazy, 2) Nope, not lying either, and 3) I really DO travel for a living. What people love best is the fact that I’m doing it because I want to… but I can work along the way when I choose to.

Pretty much sounds like freedom doesn’t it? In many ways it is. And I want to help you achieve this kind of freedom because it’s easier than you think. Especially for freelancers.

The Ultra-Condensed Guide to Perpetual Travel via Freelancing

Now don’t expect me to unearth the Holy Grail here because I can’t. There’s a lot that goes into crafting this lifestyle and traveling perpetually pretty much plants you squarely in the unknown on a daily basis. However, in my case, that’s exactly why I do it! And whether you want to just get up and go one day for however long you decide… or you just want the freedom to take little trips whenever you choose… don’t wait until you have it all figured out. Just get up and go and trust that the universe will fill in the gaps with exactly what you need along the way. Ain’t that a trip!

How I Stay in Resorts for Motel Prices

Feb 02

Here’s a fantastic little travel trick I picked up from my best friend and fellow traveler Rachel Rofe:

It’s easy to get as much as 50% or more off of your nightly rate at hotels and resorts.
I’ve used this trick to stay in four-star resorts with nightly rates of $200 for just $54… a Best Western in Flagstaff AZ for just $30 per night… and so on.

This requires embracing a bit of flexibility as you can’t choose the specific hotel you stay in. But as long as you’re comfortable with any hotel in a specific area (and you can choose the quality of your hotel), then this is ideal for affordable travel.

You’re going to name your price. But with a twist…

When Traveling Goes Wrong for All the Right Reasons

Nov 04

It’s the place you’ve always seen that no one ever told you about…

It’s the second half of my second week and so much happened I decided to break it up into two posts. As I mentioned in the Lake Powell post, I had planned to only stay in Page, AZ (where Lake Powell is) for two days, then trek up to Zion, Utah. But it just wasn’t in the cards. At every turn I was blocked. Sure I could have pushed through and gone anyway and I’m sure everything would have been fine.

But I’ve learned in life and especially in travel that when I’m aligned and in flow magic happens. Movement is effortless and I meet with no resistance.

So when I do meet with resistance, such as all four hostel and motel numbers I call for Zion being disconnected… that tells me that I’m not in flow – whatever path I’m about to embark on might not be the best one I could take. To me this is feedback from the Universe to check in, get a second opinion, open up and be aware.

Excuse Me Sir… There’s a Hyena in My Rock

Oct 31

Wrapping up my first week with my trek north into Page, AZ and Lake Powell… I had only planned to spend two days here – yet those two days quickly turned into four. I’m not complaining though. I got to see some majestic and mind-blowing rock formations nestled deep in the watery canyons of Lake Powell, including a Hyena in my rock…

Here are the highlights from my cruise through Lake Powell:

What I didn’t show in the above video was the most profound part of my Lake Powell cruise…
